Pride of Guernsey Awards set to return next year

THE Pride of Guernsey Awards have been a phenomenal success, said Guernsey Press managing director Mark Lewis, who said the newspaper was delighted to announce they will be back again next year.

More than 200 nominations were received for the inaugural awards, with some of those individuals or groups being nominated separately by readers several times.

Following a public poll attracting almost 20,000 votes, the three shortlisted finalists in each of the 12 categories were invited to the Guernsey Press offices for the awards ceremony on Saturday evening to find out who would finally get to wear their winner’s medal with pride.

Mr Lewis said the event, featuring special guest hosts Jo and Andy Priaulx and presented by James Bentley, had been a brilliant night. ‘We know it has been really hard work for the [Guernsey Press] staff, but it has been a fantastic evening and we will be back next year,’ he said.
