Pride of Guernsey: 'Incredible planning and hard work'

IT WAS a charity event that captured Guernsey’s collective heart – Jonah Beats, which took place at Vale Castle on 5 March this year. And now the organisers have been nominated for the Moonpig-sponsored Arts Contribution of the Year award.

‘The organisers – Lloyd Helyer, Bob Klein, Pete Bretel, Daz Carre, Chris Chadwick and Chris Martin – went above and beyond with tireless planning and donating their time for free to make this fantastic event happen,’ said nominator Andrea Bretel.

‘The fact that this was achieved from start to finish in a very short timeframe is testament to the incredible planning and hard work of these guys.’

The event was 12 hours of non-stop music over two stages, featuring a diverse line-up of local bands and DJs.

‘The Jonah Beats music festival was a huge success,’ said Andrea. ‘It raised an incredible £15,000 for www.helpingjonah.com, the charity set up to raise funds for local lad Jonah Gillingham’s treatment for aHUS, an ultra-rare blood disorder.’
