Pride of Guernsey: 'An all round good egg'

CHARLOTTE THOMPSON’S achievements are ‘astounding’ despite experiencing illness earlier in her school career.

She was nominated for the College of Further Education-sponsored Overcoming Adversity Award by her year group head and tutors at Ladies’ College.

‘Charlotte is described by students and staff as an all round “good egg”. She is highly dedicated to the school and does what she can to contribute positively to the school environment and local community,’ her nominators said.

The 17-year-old has achieved successes in Eisteddfods and with the Young Enterprise scheme and also won the Deutsche Bank under-18 art competition as a 15-year-old, with her work being displayed in the Saatchi Gallery.

In September 2015, she won the Jack Russell Award in the JJ Fox Open Art Competition.

‘Charlotte also contributes fully to school life and enjoys popularity and respect, as witnessed in her appointment as college prefect and editor of the school magazine Ilex.

‘In addition to work experience, she also actively volunteers to support the community, for example the annual Rotary Walk and helping with pre-school ballet and drama. I believe these achievements should be recognised to show others that even with a difficult patch, you can succeed.’
