NOMINATED together, the customer care sector from Health & Social Care alongside a team from the Medical Specialist Group have been recognised for their hard work and the ‘compassionate, empathetic service’ they provide.

The nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, put them forward for the Alexander Daniels-sponsored Customer Service of the Year Award, and said, ‘Customer care can be a difficult job in any industry but especially so in Health & Social Care, where the team can encounter people who are dealing with significant life events and challenges.

‘Headed by Rose Hitchon, the team also works with the Medical Specialist Group to deal with over 100 cases a month and work hard to ensure a person-centred service.’

The team have recently been trained in a communication skills course developed by Manchester University NHS Trust which aims to empower staff to listen carefully and respond helpfully.

‘The feedback has been excellent, with many describing how they felt listened to,’ said the nominator.

‘The team have a very approachable manner and always listen in a non-judgemental way.

‘I am always impressed with their caring attitude and professional approach.’

‘I do believe that their work is often overlooked and that they are unsung heroes, helping to resolve issues and help those in distress and the most vulnerable in our bailiwick – that is why I would like to nominate the work of these important teams.’
