Pride of Guernsey: Katey de Menezes and Tom Cheshire

THE Cheshire Dramatic Arts Academy may have been up and running for only two terms, but that didn’t stop one very happy parent from nominating its founders, Katey de Menezes and Tom Cheshire, for the Moonpig-sponsored Arts Contribution of the Year award.

‘Katey de Menezes – soon to become Mrs Cheshire – is the most welcoming and warm-hearted person I have ever known,’ said Diane Perkins. ‘And Tom is just beyond awesome. He is funny and brings the absolute best out in everyone. Every kid loves Tom.’
Diane’s daughter attends CDA and her son will be going in September. She believes the academy gives children a real boost.
‘My daughter’s confidence and self-esteem has gone through the roof and it’s thanks to Katey, who brings out the best in every single child. She even attends all their activities they perform in and even school performances.’
Diane also praises Katey and Tom’s passion about working with children.
‘Katey dedicates herself totally to the children and makes everyone feel welcome, relaxed, happy and confident. The classes are so much fun.’
Summing up her nominees in one succinct line, Diane said:
‘If only the world had more people like Tom and Katey.’
