Almost every person involved in sport in our islands, from the elite medal-winners to our most social participants, started at grass roots level and inevitably were helped along their sporting journey by volunteers. Some help individuals, some run teams, some keep entire sports afloat with tireless efforts, often behind the scenes.
Everyone who is involved in sport in Guernsey will know a volunteer worthy of nomination - it is time to raise their profile and celebrate what they do for the benefit of all the participants.
BAS Brehaut, who has been involved with Sylvans Sports Club for nearly 70 years, has been nominated for the Sports Volunteer of the Year award, sponsored by Sure.
