It has become increasingly clear in recent years that we must all play our part in helping to ensure the future environmental, economic and social sustainability of our island and the wider world.
Initiatives both large and small, from conservation work to sustainable living approaches and ethical consumerism to social justice campaigning, can all have a powerful and lasting impact on our island and everyone who lives here.
With this in mind, there are those among us who tirelessly and selflessly dedicate their time to protecting and preserving what matters most to us today, as well as working to enhance and improve our island for future generations.
The Sustainability Hero of the Year award aims to recognise and celebrate these exceptional individuals who have made a difference and inspired others through their actions.
