Pride of Guernsey: Barbara Cleave

BARBARA CLEAVE does things for people without having to be asked, according to her daughter. Natalie Guille has put her mother forward for the Christies Group-sponsored Parent/s of the Year award and said she was one in a million.

‘She has recently retired from work early, however when she was working she still has managed to accomplish so many things,’ she said.
‘About 10 years ago when my nan was poorly she climbed Kilimanjaro to raise awareness of ovarian cancer.
‘She recently knitted 70 chickens to raise funds for Georgina’s Gang as she knows the family and she continues to support the charity.
‘I have her to thank for making me the person I am today. She used to have three to four jobs just so I could have a nice life.
‘I just want her to be recognised because she supports me in so many ways.
‘She’s just a lovely person and for me the best.’
