Pride of Guernsey: Julia Watts and Kate Sweeney

JULIA WATTS and Katie Sweeney of Autism Guernsey have been recognised for their support through a nomination for the Specsavers-sponsored Carer of the Year award.

Both ladies have been commended for supporting those who struggle with autism and their families by an anonymous nominator.
‘They raise awareness of autism and provide training to many people so that they too understand how to support those who struggle with autism.
‘They give those who struggle a voice,’ the nominator said.
Autism Guernsey, which was set up in 2012, continues to be an important lifeline for many children, young people and adults and aims to ensure those with autism are able to lead positive and inclusive lives.
‘Without them I wouldn’t be getting the right support for my autism, I wouldn’t be getting as understood and supported, like so many others.
‘The team work tirelessly to make a difference and are a lifeline to us all,’ the nominator said.
‘They deserve to be recognised for their vitally important work every single day.’
