Pride of Guernsey: Heidi Rosamund

MULTIPLE people have nominated Heidi Rosamund, head coach at Guernsey Panthers Netball, for the Garenne-sponsored Teacher of the Year award, for her passion and commitment.

Nikki Sullivan commends Heidi and her team on doing an amazing job with the under-14 squad.
‘They all give up many hours a week to train and coach the girls, arrange talks for them on fitness and nutrition and arrange extra training games with teams from the older groups for experience.’
‘All of the coaches and management team work so hard and get on really well with all of the girls,’ she said. ‘They are like one big family.’
The team were the only Guernsey side to bring the cup home from Jersey, for the second year running, winning the Inter-Insulars with the same coaches.
‘The coaches recently arranged for them to enter a tournament in the UK, which they won, and this resulted in them being invited to join the U14 UK South League.
‘They went for trials last month and played against some very strong UK teams and had an excellent result, qualifying to join the league.
‘This means from September they will be travelling to the UK once a month,’ she said. ‘This will be very costly.
‘The coaches and management team have worked very hard to get sponsors and have managed to secure a major sponsorship deal which will cover a lot of the costs.’
This will be the first junior netball team to compete at a UK level.
‘None of this could have been achieved without the support and dedication of Heidi Rosamund and her coaches and management team. ‘
