Pride of Guernsey: Sara Sarre

A TEACHER at Les Voies School has been called an inspirational leading light by one of her nominators who put her forward for the Garenne-sponsored Teacher of the Year award.

Sara Sarre has established a therapy dog charity, Paws for Support, and has been credited for spending ‘every spare hour’ of her own time helping animals and children.
‘My son, Harry, hasn’t been well enough to access education, but thanks to Sara and the Paws for Support Charity, he now has ‘Cookie’, a trainee assistance dog.
‘On a voluntary basis, Sara has supported Harry through a very difficult year and being able to return to dog training was a huge motivator during a recent hospital stay in Southampton,’ wrote Sarah Brown.
‘Sara Sarre is one of the most inspirational teachers I’ve ever met.
‘She is one of the many leading lights at the amazing educational establishment that is Les Voies – a school for those students with special educational needs.
‘Nothing seems to faze her, she works closely with the parents of young people with special educational needs and she also leads the PTFA.
‘She is passionate about her work, she’s fair and she provides consistency for all the young people – and parents – in her care.’ wrote another.
