Pride of Guernsey: North Team community nurses

‘A WONDERFUL TEAM who would do anything for you,’ is how Elizabeth Thompson describes her nominee for Angel of the Year.

‘A WONDERFUL TEAM who would do anything for you,’ is how Elizabeth Thompson describes her nominee for Angel of the Year.

Mrs Thompson has put forward the North Team community nurses for the Ravenscroft-sponsored award.

‘They are so caring,’ she said. ‘They’re the most helpful people you’ll find in Guernsey. Nothing is too much trouble.

‘The nurses were very good in hospital too, but the North Team community nurses come around always happy and they make you feel good.’

She said she receives a visit twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday, and they help with dressings on her legs. ‘They always ask me if I want anything else done, but I say no because I know they don’t have the time,’ said Mrs Thompson.

‘They’re very much appreciated. They’re so wonderful.

‘They don’t get that much pay and they’re up early in the morning until late at night.

‘I don’t know what we’d do without them.’

  • The North Team community nurses are based at the former Castel Hospital, the same site as the North Team senior carers, who were named as Angel of the Year last year.
