Pride of Guernsey: Rob Sweeney

A POPULAR nominee in previous Pride of Guernseys, this teacher has been picked once again for the Moonpig-sponsored Arts Contribution Award.

‘Rob Sweeney is a brilliant artist himself, painting many local scenes and promoting Guernsey life,’ explained Karen Brzozka.

‘He teaches at Beaucamps High School and inspires and encourages many young students who go on to continue with their art with the knowledge and confidence gained from Rob’s guidance.’

Karen goes on to praise Rob’s tireless voluntary work at Autism Guernsey‘s ‘amazing club’ where he sits alongside individuals and groups of students.

‘The youngsters of various ages really have fun working with Rob, trying out new media and methods and just being encouraged to have fun and enjoy their art. He is there for guidance but really just introduces them to new ideas and gently coaxes them to believe in themselves and have fun and confidence with their own ideas.’
