Pride of Guernsey: Stephen Earley

STEPHEN EARLEY has been nominated by one of his students for Teacher of the Year in this year’s Pride of Guernsey awards.

Nominator Neil Fellows said Mr Earley joined the Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre just before Christmas and since then has made quite an impact on many of the Sixth Form students.

‘Our Year 12 economics classes seemed doomed,’ he said. ‘But Mr Earley joined with such enthusiasm that none of us could have expected.’

Neil said Mr Earley brought the students up to speed with the curriculum very quickly and was able to teach them a new love for economics.

‘He makes learning fun without losing any of the detail,’ he said.

No matter what the situation, the students believe Mr Earley always puts the class before himself and several of the students have admitted that his inspired teaching is a big part of why they go to school every day and enjoy it.

‘He leaves a great impression on everyone he talks to and easily brightens the mood in any situation,’ Neil said.

‘We [the class] can think of nobody that better exemplifies the term best teacher.’
