TEN nominations came through for Emma Stumpf for the Teacher of the Year Award.

The Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre English teacher has made quite the impression on her students, who called her ‘the best’, ‘an amazing person’ and ‘an excellent teacher’.

Despite a difficult year personally, Mrs Stumpf turned up to each lesson with a smile on her face and put her all into each class, according to her nominators.

‘She is kind and caring an an amazing teacher who is really passionate about her subject,’ one said.

‘When one teacher was ill she took on an additional class and made sure that their A-level coursework was all completed and to the best standard it could be,’ another said.

‘She had to teach both classes, taking on so much extra work – she also put together several information booklets for all the A-level students to use in preparation for their exams and was constantly a pillar of support in the English department and for her students.’

Having gone above and beyond for her students, the nominators felt Mrs Stumpf’s positive attitude and eagerness to make sure every student was happy was more than enough of a reason to nominate her for this award.
