COLIN VAUDIN and Chris Welsby’s heroic actions last October have been recognised through an Emergency Hero of the Year Award nomination.

Nominator Jon Williams suddenly collapsed at work last year and Colin and Chris had to perform life-saving CPR, leading Mr Williams to put the pair forward for the Cherry Godfrey-sponsored award.

He said, ‘The immediate and appropriate action taken by Colin and Chris saved my life.

‘They undertook CPR so well that it gave me the best possible chance of survival without complications such as brain damage.

‘When I collapsed, Colin was a few feet away from me and immediately sought to evaluate my condition – having determined that I had no pulse, he and Chris commenced CPR for approximately 10 minutes until others arrived.’

Mr Vaudin and Welsby continued to further assist with Jon’s treatment until he was taken to hospital.
