ASSISTANT HEAD TEACHER at Les Beaucamps High School Tracy Fern has been nominated for Teacher of the Year in this year’s Pride of Guernsey awards.

Mrs Fern is heavily involved in the inclusion department at Les Beaucamps and has touched the heart of her nominator Jaime Sarre.

‘I think Mrs Fern deserves the award for teacher of the year because of her outstanding efforts and contribution to the inclusion department at school,’ Jaime said.

‘She has helped me personally when I found high school particularly challenging right through to my GCSEs.’

Jaime believes that Mrs Fern goes above and beyond to make sure all the students are mentally sound and well.

‘She is definitely somebody who is more than worthy of this award for always speaking for the students – she always sees things from our point of view and is very understanding.

‘Mrs Fern treats us like young adults, not children, and I think that’s really important for students before we leave school and move on to the next stage of our lives.’
