‘BLESSING Mutamba deserves this award as she works tirelessly to benefit the lives of others which I think is commendable at such a young age,’ said nominator Netty Mutamba.

‘BLESSING Mutamba deserves this award as she works tirelessly to benefit the lives of others which I think is commendable at such a young age,’ said nominator Netty Mutamba.

23-year old entrepreneur, Blessing Mutamba, has been nominated for the Specsavers-sponsored Carer of the Year Award for her work within the UK and Guernsey-based African community.

‘Her ultimate aim is to develop and implement entrepreneurial mentoring schemes aimed at young people living in her home country of Zimbabwe,’ Netty said.

‘Blessing has started an initiative called Guernsey Diversity Connect aimed at helping people of African heritage make this island home - she is doing this through an online Whatsapp platform, community outreach and regular events.’

Netty added, ‘Blessing hopes to utilise this network in preparation for her travels to Zimbabwe next February so that she can roll out the first edition of her mentoring programme.’

While advocating for her platform Blessing was invited to meet with Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the UK and Northern Ireland in recognition for her hard work.

She also helped to launch a business forum that discusses resources needed within the African continent to help economic growth and won the title of Miss Ireland International, which helped to develop her platform.

‘Despite all of her achievements, she remains humble and hard working and never lets her spirit get broken.’
