TWO angels who have kept watch over Shirley Bridle through what she said was the worst year of her life have now been put forward for the Pride of Guernsey Angel of the Year Award.

Mrs Bridle has nominated Dr Ruth Taberner and her PA Cheryl Lowe for the award, which is sponsored by Ravenscroft.

‘These two angels kept me safe and sound through the worst year of my life and that of my late husband’s,’ she said.

‘Without their help I don’t know where I would be today.’

‘They were both there at the end of the phone if I needed to talk, to listen, help and advise – they told me I can phone up anytime,’ she said.

‘Nothing was too much trouble and they’re still with me today.’

Mrs Bridle’s husband suffered from cancer for many years and he endured the ‘nightmare illness’ without ever asking, ‘Why me?’

‘They couldn’t come to the funeral so they sent flowers,’ she said.

‘They also sent cards and very kind words, which were a great comfort to me.

‘I can never thank them enough.’
