AMHERST head teacher Tracey Moore has been nominated for this year’s Pride of Guernsey Teacher of the Year award.

Nominated by Katina Jones, Mrs Moore was said to be a good listener and support for parents who will help wherever she can.

‘Tracey will take any classes and she works so hard,’ Ms Jones said.

‘She is always going [into school] early and leaving late to make sure everything is done and she joins in with PTA events and the gardening club doing things like digging and weeding with the children.’

Mrs Jones is a grandparent of one of the students at Amherst Primary and said that all the children really love Mrs Moore.

‘Tracey helps out in whatever it is she is needed for.

‘It doesn’t matter what needs to be done, you can always count on her to roll up her sleeves and get stuck in – she goes above and beyond for the school.’

Mrs Moore also helped out with gardening and potting when Mrs Jones wanted to use the school for her entry for Floral Guernsey.

‘There’s nothing she won’t help out with,’ Mrs Jones said.
