Angel of the Year: Selfless work

IF EVER there was a year when we could be proud of Guernsey then 2020 is surely it. Pride of Guernsey celebrates the people who make our island the incredibly special place it is and there is no doubt that this year’s events will have some incredibly worthy nominees and winners – I certainly don’t envy the judges, who will find it harder than ever to choose the winners.

Ravenscroft has been sponsoring the Angel of the Year category at both the Pride of Guernsey and Pride of Jersey Awards since they were first launched.

The Angel of the Year award recognises those individuals and teams who dedicate their lives to looking after people at a time they need it the most. The hours are long and often antisocial, the work can be tiring and unglamorous but the care and support they give never wanes. They each deserve to be recognised and thanked, whether they are nominated or not. Every single year, we are humbled by the kind and selfless people who work as doctors, nurses, medics, and social and health workers. Many have found themselves in the spotlight this year and we thank every one of them for getting us through.

Ravenscroft is well known for its community support and we are proud to have supported so many charities, voluntary organisations, sporting clubs and community and cultural events. With 5,000 clients across the Channel Islands, it’s our way of thanking the community for their support of our business and it’s always a pleasure for us to see the benefits that financial support can bring.

2020 has shown just how many angels there are in Guernsey, selflessly helping others and going beyond the call of duty.

The Ravenscroft team hopes that islanders will nominate more islanders than ever before, not only for Angel of the Year but all of the categories in this year’s Pride of Guernsey.
