A COLLEAGUE, a friend and her sister have all nominated Aimee Louise Scullion for the Pride of Guernsey Teacher of the Year

award.

A Year 4 teacher at Amherst Primary School, Ms Scullion has been put forward for the HSBC-sponsored award due to her modesty, friendship and passion.

Her colleague said: ‘Aimee is passionate about her job, nothing is ever too much work or time.

‘She is excessively organised, she doesn’t sleep unless everything is done to the highest standard.

‘Aimee cares so much, even supplying lunch from her own pocket for children who need it.

‘During lockdown she personally delivered work weekly to a child unable to access the internet. She goes above and beyond to help others.’

Her friend described her as ‘a wonderful person to have in your life as she spreads joy and love wherever she goes’.

‘Aimee has been a friend to me since early childhood,’ they wrote.

‘We’ve been through school together and watched each other grow as we’ve both become wives, mothers and teachers. She is a forever friend, there for me through every up and down and one of the most genuine people I have ever met.

‘She will make time to help anyone she can – with a heart full of kindness and such patience, she was born to teach.’

Her sister said of Aimee’s teaching ethos that the thing she respected most was her modesty.

‘I never hear from her how many hours she has ploughed into her class,’ she wrote.

‘How much time and her own money and resources she often uses to make sure she has outstanding materials that support every member of her class.

‘Just how many times she has gone so far to support a child – above and beyond doesn’t quite do it justice.’
