A DOCTOR working at Queen’s Road Medical Practice has been nominated for the Ravenscroft-sponsored Angel of the Year award by Natalie Curtis.

Dr Susan Wilson is always kind, friendly and supportive, according to Ms Curtis, who wrote that Dr Wilson takes the time to listen without judgement.

Ms Curtis said that she is not the only person to have appreciated these qualities in Dr Wilson.

‘Dr Sue is renowned in the Guernsey fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue community for truly making efforts to understand the needs of the people who come to her.’

Fibromyalgia is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body. There is currently no cure, but there are treatments that can make the condition easier to live with.

Chronic fatigue is also a long-term illness.

Dr Wilson has spent more than 35 years in general practice medicine and also runs Guernsey charity the Tumaini Fund. The charity seeks to help orphaned children in Kagera in north-west Tanzania.

Ms Curtis said she found Dr Wilson’s work around the world inspirational.

She also shared how Dr Wilson’s help had benefited her.

‘Her help and advice have literally changed my life – she has helped me move my mental and physical health in the right direction in a way that no one in my 31 years has ever done before’.
