Customer Service of the Year: Forest Stores Post Office Team

‘THEY are angels and really do deserve this award,’ said Anne Shakerley, who nominated the team at Forest Stores Post Office for the Cherry Godfrey-sponsored Customer Service of the Year award.

‘THEY are angels and really do deserve this award,’ said Anne Shakerley, who nominated the team at Forest Stores Post Office for the Cherry Godfrey-sponsored Customer Service of the Year award.

‘During the difficult times we have all recently experienced, and at other times, the staff have always been cheerful and extremely helpful,’ she said.

Ms Shakerley also said that closures due to the virus put extra strain on the Forest Stores Post Office, but that nonetheless the team have delivered for every island parish.

The ability of the post office to keep up despite the increased pressure has been assisted by staff members frequently working long shifts. Ms Shakerley remembers speaking to a young lad who regularly worked 12-hour shifts, as well as a woman who started work at 4.30am to make sure parcels came through on time.

There are a variety of different roles that contribute to the post office’s functioning, but Ms Shakerley concluded that everyone was going above and beyond.

‘They are always willing to go the extra mile, whether they are on a till or filling shelves,’ she said.

‘We are fortunate to have people such as them.’
