GSPCA care assistant Beckie Bailey is one of the most caring individuals you could ever meet, according to her manager.

In putting her forward for the Carer of the Year award, GSPCA manager Steve Byrne said Mrs Bailey had taken on more responsibilities during lockdown by heading up the GSPCA hospital, and colleagues agreed she had helped save, care for, and rehabilitate many animals during what has been one of the busiest years with wild animals and birds that the charity had seen.

‘Not only does Beckie care for a huge array of animals at the GSPCA, she goes over and above to continually learn and improve not only her own work but those around her, teaching and showing staff and volunteers techniques of how to improve their skills,’ said Mr Byrne.

She was also incredibly good when it came to visitors to the GSPCA and her school and education talks were done in a way that showed how much she cared for the animals.
