‘LOCAL sport needs more people like Guy.’
Sylvans club secretary Guy Hardill has been nominated for the Sure-sponsored Sports Volunteer of the Year award for his efforts in football administration at multiple local clubs over the past few years.
The nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, said that ‘Guy’s enthusiasm for sports administration has taken him to senior admin roles at two different football clubs in recent years’.
‘It’s not easy to find people who are so willing to take on these great responsibilities and local sport needs more people like Guy.’
Guy was the club president at Rangers until recently, which is where his son, Miles, played a large portion of his youth football.
Miles, 20, made the switch to Sylvans a few years ago and is now a crucial member of its Priaulx side. Guy joined his son in 2020 in making the move out west to take over another admin role, this time as secretary.
‘I really enjoy being involved in local football and helping as many people to improve and take sport in the sport as I possibly can,’ said Guy, when asked about why he is so willing to take on administrative duties at local clubs.
