KELLY OGIER said that she ‘wouldn’t go anywhere else’ than to Jean-Paul Segers when her animals need taking care of. This led to his nomination for this year’s Specsavers-sponsored Carer of the Year award.

Jean-Paul has spent 26 years in Guernsey and first joined the Northside Veterinary Centre as an assistant. He is now a partner who is ‘highly recommended’ for the ‘substantial care’ he has given to many animals.

‘Jean-Paul and I have known each other for 20 years. He is our most trusted vet,’ says nominator Mrs Kelly Ogier.

When one of her cats was unwell during lockdown, she was very impressed with the compassionate way in which Jean-Paul handled the situation.

‘As a dedicated pet parent, I have always attended every appointment with our animals. I was worried as our cat suffers with separation anxiety. Jean-Paul phoned me whilst I waited in the car to reassure me that she was OK.

‘He has a very calming nature and will do anything he can to help,’ she added.

Jean-Paul says that he really enjoys meeting the owners as well as dealing with and taking care of the animals.

‘He is very caring and dedicated about everything he does.’
