CHARLIE KERRY and Lauren Rault have both been nominated for the Specsavers-sponsored Carer of the Year award by their mother, Chantelle Kerry.
Chantelle suffers from refractory frontal lobe epilepsy and is so grateful for the care and help she has received from her two children.
‘I have good days and some very bad days, where I can become bed ridden and in extreme circumstances, hospitalised,’ Chantelle said.
‘Since my marriage broke down at the end of last year, Charlie and Lauren have stepped into a shared carer role and I really don’t know where I would be without them.
‘I live on my own with my son and if I can’t get to the shops, cook or I have had a seizure and can’t get to bed, Charlie goes above and beyond and does all these things without having to be asked or giving any complaints.
‘My daughter, Lauren, has two children to deal with but she will also step up to the plate.
‘Quite recently, I was hospitalised after having multiple seizures back to back. She called an ambulance and stayed by my side, dealing with the doctors and making sure I was stabilised before going home to her own children.’
