Brynmor has kept music at the centre of his life since he was seven years old, playing his last public gig on his 90th birthday in 2019.
During his musical career, Brynmor became well known in local jazz circles and beyond.
‘He was very well respected by everyone around him,’ said Naomi Mather and Daniel Timms, his nominators and grandchildren.
They both remember his talent and passion for saxophone and clarinet.
‘I remember reading many newspaper articles about him,’ said Daniel remembering his grandfather’s musical prime, leading his band and playing the Guernsey Jazz Orchestra.
‘It stands out how passionate he is for music,’ said Naomi.
Brynmor travelled all around the Channel Islands to play and went to many charity events to share his talent.
‘I’ve always liked swing music and jazz music,’ said Brynmor, who continued to fill his home with music until late 2021 when he moved into Maison de L’Aumone care home.
Although Brynmor can no longer play his instruments, his contribution to decades of music on and off the island is commendable.
‘If it’s something you want, you just get on with it,’ he said.
