Jeremy Mahoney

Jeremy Mahoney has been nominated for the Overcoming Adversity award, sponsored by JT.

After having a stroke in December, doctors discovered Jeremy had a brain tumour, which led to an aneurysm in April and him being given an hour to live.

‘But he came off the ventilator 12 hours after the surgery and just keeps defying all odds,’ said Robyn Craig, nominator and daughter.

‘I’m grateful to my daughter for sneaking around behind my back and nominating me without me knowing,’ Jeremy said.

After having emergency surgery Jeremy is currently learning how to walk despite being told he would never do so again.

‘If this is what I have, I have to learn how to live with it,’ he said.

Robyn is undeniably proud of her father for defying all odds and coming out stronger than before.

‘His attitude and resilience through it all are inspiring and incredible.’

Jeremy has shown his whole family that whatever happens you have to keep moving forward.

‘He just says what’s the point in worrying,’ Robyn said.

‘I can’t put into words how proud I am of him.’
