Nikita Gallienne has been nominated for Teacher of the Year

Nikita Gallienne started getting involved in teaching when she was young and started helping out at the youth club she used to go to. 

From there, things started to roll forward. She left the College of Further Education in 2014 with childcare qualifications, and has been with Monkey Puzzle pre-school at Kings ever since, battling a flood in the nursery from a burst mains pipe in 2018 on her way.

‘She is always smiling and great with the children – not just mine but all of them,’ said her nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.

‘She makes sure they have a lovely time at nursery every day and is always doing something creative with them.’ 

This creative approach is something Nikita goes out of her way to develop, making things for the children in her own time for the children to use. 

For example, she made a homemade big colourful fidget box, bedecked with ribbons, buttons and a switch to interact with. 

‘She definitely deserves an award and to be recognised for all of the hard work that she does,’ said her nominator.
