Rachel Kemp has been nominated for Teacher of the Year

Rachel Kemp has now found ‘her place’ both in Guernsey and teaching at La Houguette School after moving to the island from Manchester last year.

Ahead of making the step up to teach Year 4 in September, Emma De Jersey wanted to thank Mrs Kemp for making her son’s school year so great. 

‘My son loves her and is very lucky to be having Mrs Kemp as his teacher again next year,’ Emma said. ‘She is such an amazing teacher and an asset to La Houguette School.’

With almost three decades of teaching behind her, this school year marked Mrs Kemp's first full-time position in Guernsey – a job which she said ‘has been an absolute joy’.

‘She is bubbly and engaging with the children and has their best interests at heart – she is also good at keeping in contact with parents when and if needed,’ Emma added.
