‘A father figure to many on station,’ long-time St John Emergency Ambulance paramedic Steve Torode has been nominated for Emergency Hero of the Year award.
‘He is turning 60 this year and shows no signs of slowing down, he works tirelessly full-time and overtime, including night shifts, as well as supporting new and progressing staff,’ said nominator Mia Musto.
‘He is always the first to offer up for any Flying Christine shouts to the other islands in the Bailiwick no matter the weather.’
In 2009 Steve became a paramedic, moving up to team leader in 2022. He said it is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world.
‘I came from a service industry and I just enjoy helping people, I feel like I can help them directly and see direct results. It also helps to be part of such a fantastic team I love working with them all.’
