The Guernsey Ambulance and Rescue service is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
‘The ambulance team deserves to be nominated because it’s not an easy job that a lot of people can handle,’ said one of their two nominators, who wishes to remain anonymous. ‘Not everyone has got the stomach for it. It also requires a lot of skills that many people haven’t got.
Their nominator once had to call them as their mum was quite unwell.
‘They came down and calmed her down and calmed me down, and from there I really started to notice them.’
Since then, the crew have particularly stood out for their extraordinary hard work.
‘We have an amazing team of dedicated frontline ambulance crews, backed-up by an equally dedicated support and administration team, plus volunteer community first responders and the Flying Christine crew, all of whom make a difference to the lives of islanders everyday,’ said chief executive officer of Ambulance and Rescue Guernsey, Mark Mapp.
‘The island community regularly shows its love and appreciation for our work in the private messages of thanks we receive. We love Guernsey and we love what we do, so this nomination and public recognition is very special.’
