James Robilliard

James Robilliard has been nominated for the Overcoming Adversity award. Sadly James has passed away but his family and friends would like his nomination to continue as a tribute to his bravery and determination.

James Robilliard has stared adversity in the face over the last four years in his fight against a brain tumour.

A seizure in 2020 revealed he had a brain tumour, and his mum Hayley Bull said the family feared for his life.

‘We almost lost him, I cannot describe the terror and devastation we felt,’ she said.

After a seven-hour operation in Southampton he was given the news that the tumour was gone but a year later found out that the tumour had grown deeper into his brain and was now grade four.

The following operation left James, who is the father of twin boys, with damage to his left leg and arm and also meant he had to undergo six weeks of radiotherapy and a year of chemotherapy which he finished in April.

Since this nomination was submitted, the family has learnt that James has a third tumour.

‘He struggles everyday but is the most positive person you could ever meet,’ said Hayley.

‘He just wants to be normal but had to give up so much, driving, cycling, fishing and even playing football with his boys is a struggle.’
