Caitlin Grupping’s creation Drink and Draw has allowed numerous islanders to find their inner artist as well as new body confidence.
The Scottish organiser moved to Guernsey for a career in accounting after her parents disliked the idea of art college but found she was still more motivated then ever to create an art group.
Caitlin started out by modelling before ‘drawing’ on her nearest and dearest to create Drink and Draw, which she has now dubbed, four years later, her ‘greatest achievement’.
‘I attended my first life drawing event as part of a hen do two years ago. I am by no means an artist but was blown away at how kind and helpful Caitlin was and I had so much fun,’ said nominator Emily Tostevin.
‘I have continued to occasionally attend Drink and Draw sessions [on Wednesday evenings] at the Golden Lion – Caitlin is always so organised and even on a week where you have around 30 people attending, it is such a welcoming and non-judgemental space.’
‘It is clear that Caitlin puts so much time and effort into organising these sessions and creating a place where people of any artistic ability can come together and enjoy themselves, hopefully learning some new skills along the way.’
