IN ITALIAN, La Perla translates to ‘the pearl’ – and for Andy and Julie Lemee, the Italian restaurant based in the North Plantation is a true gem of the sea.
La Perla’s team has been nominated for Customer Service of the Year for their care and attention to detail with their customers.
‘Whenever we visit this wonderful restaurant, all the staff are very welcoming,’ Julie said.
‘Andy has a visual impairment and they are very sensitive to his needs – they always make sure that we have a table with good lighting, and every staff member seems to be aware of serving someone who is blind.’
The nominators added that eating out can be difficult to accommodate, however, La Perla always goes the extra mile.
‘[They] explain where they place the drinks and food and, best of all, the chef always presents the food in a way that Andy can cope with by cutting it into bite-size pieces and even changing the crockery it’s presented on to suit Andy’s needs.’
‘We think that all the staff at La Perla deserve this award for their helpfulness and understanding of disabilities.’
